We are looking for a Junior Lawyer to join Viridien and support our Europe, Africa and Middle East Legal team. This position offers a unique opportunity to develop strong foundations in commercial and technology-driven contracts within an international and highly innovative environment. You will work closely with Viridien's Geoscience and High Performance Computing (HPC) teams, contributing directly to enabling business activities while ensuring legal compliance and risk management.
You will have the opportunity to work on:
- Commercial contracting fundamentals

- Legal risk identification, mitigation and escalation

- Exposure to international legal operations
Qualifications
- Degree in Law (Business Law, Corporate Law, Commercial Law or equivalent)
- Previous experience in contract negotiation and contract management
- Strong contract literacy skills: drafting, reviewing and negotiating
- Highly discreet, professional, and guided by strong ethical standards
- Well-organized, reliable and detail-oriented, with a pragmatic and solution-oriented approach
- Collaborative team player, comfortable working in a multicultural and international environment
- Clear and confident communicator, able to interact easily with a wide range of stakeholders
- Proactive and adaptable, able to manage priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Curious and eager to learn, with a genuine interest in scientific, technical and innovative topics
- Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team
- Must be fluent in English (written and verbal). French is highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities
- Contract Management
- Review, draft and amend a wide range of contracts
- Support the negotiation of commercial and licensing agreements
- Prepare contract amendments and related documentation
- Maintain contract templates and legal records
- Ensure confidentiality and compliance with internal standards
Business Support
- Partner with Geoscience and HPC commercial and sales teams
- Support Procurement, Human Resources, Facilities and Marketing teams
- Translate legal requirements into practical and operational guidance
- Support commercial deals under the supervision of the Legal team
- Escalate legal and risk issues appropriately
Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure contracts align with Viridien legal and compliance policies
- Support compliance with local content and regulatory requirements
- Work collaboratively with Tax, Compliance, Insurance and Finance teams
- Act as first-line legal support before escalation to senior counsel

- Location: We are located in Crawley, just south of London—well connected to the capital, the South Coast, and Gatwick Airport for international travel.
