As Assistant Facilities Manager (AFM) you will provide dual operational and technical leadership within the facilities team, combining hands‑on HV/LV electrical expertise with facilities management capability. In this role you will strengthen the site’s technical resilience, support the development of the team and ensure smooth day‑to‑day operations within a business‑critical high-performance computing data centre environment employing cutting-edge cooling technology. As the deputy to the Facilities Manager, you will support operational decision-making, contractor management, compliance oversight, and electrical safety leadership.
Skills, Experience & Qualifications
- Essential
- Recognised electrical qualification (NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, HNC/HND, or equivalent).
- Experience in HV/LV systems with the ability to act as or become an Authorised Person.
- Experience working in a data centre, critical environment, or high‑availability infrastructure.
- Strong understanding of mechanical & electrical systems.
- Experience supervising contractors and supporting facilities communication, organisation, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in a high‑pressure environment with strict safety protocols.
- Desirable
- Experience in facilities management or deputy/leadership roles.
- IOSH Managing Safely or NEBOSH with CAFM systems, PPM management, or compliance tracking tools.
- UPS, generator, cooling systems, and BMS competence.
- Project delivery experience (small works, refurbishments, system upgrades).
