Brightpoint Community College invites applications for a full-time, 9-month Nursing Faculty position. The College seeks qualified individuals who are passionate about teaching a variety of nursing courses within the Nursing Assistant (NA), Practical Nursing (LPN), and/or Registered Nursing (RN) programs in face-to-face, hybrid, and online learning environments.

Full-time faculty responsibilities include:

  • Teaching the equivalent of 15 credit hours per semester
  • Fostering student engagement and success
  • Providing clinical supervision
  • Contributing to course and curriculum development
  • Advising students
  • Maintaining accurate and timely student records

In addition to teaching responsibilities, full-time nursing faculty actively participate in program development, assessment, and evaluation; serve on college committees; engage in institutional initiatives and activities; and represent Brightpoint at community events, professional organizations, and other outreach opportunities.

Special Assignments

May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.

KSA's/Required Qualifications

REQUIRED: Bachelor's degree in Nursing (must be enrolled in a Master's degree program). Candidates must possess several years of experience in medical-surgical and/or pediatric nursing, excellent oral and written communication skills, and the ability to teach a combination of day, evening, weekend, hybrid, and/or online classes. Flexibility to work at any of the College’s locations is required. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively within and across institutional teams, as well as a strong commitment to the community college mission. A current Commonwealth of Virginia nursing license or multistate compact nursing license is required. Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a criminal background check.

Additional Considerations

Master's Degree in Nursing. Experience teaching at the college level, ability to use instructional technology, and knowledge of Virginia BON regulation and ACEN accreditation criteria.
