About the Practice: Virginia Eye Consultants is celebrating over 60 years of world-class specialty eye care, nationally recognized for excellence in surgery, research, and teaching. Located in vibrant Norfolk, Virginia, we are a referral-based practice with a sterling reputation both nationally and internationally. Our team includes 17 MDs, 7 ODs, and 2 PAs across all adult subspecialties. With strong internal and external referral networks, advanced diagnostic and surgical technology, and an industry-leading 5-room ophthalmic-only ASC, we provide our physicians with the tools and support to deliver exceptional care. We also maintain a full-time clinical research department and have a strong teaching affiliation with the local medical school’s ophthalmology residency program.
About the Position:
- High surgical volume from day one: ~100 grafts/year (mix of PKP, DSEK, DMEK)
- 1–3 ulcers per week
- Significant external disease, ocular surface disease, second opinions, uveitis, secondary glaucoma
- Multiple anterior segment reconstructions per month
- ~600 cataracts/year (1/3 complex)
- Corneal refractive surgeons welcome
- 1:3 months call (ODs take first call)
- Strong mentorship available
- Busy practice with established referral base
