A bit about us: We’re the Virgin Group — supporting a global family of companies and building ventures that bring our brand to life. From connecting customers to backing entrepreneurs and driving change, everything we do is rooted in one ambition: changing business for good. Virgin is a global family of businesses built on a simple idea: do things differently, and do them better. For over 50 years, we’ve been driven by curiosity, bold thinking and a belief that business can be a force for good.
We’re a big brand, but not a big team. That means you’ll get stuck in, take real ownership, and see the impact of what you do every day. Around here, your career isn’t a straight line — it’s your adventure to shape.
What you’ll be getting stuck into:
- Own the integrity of financial records and reporting for the companies in your remit, making sure everything is complete, accurate and compliant.
- Lead the month-end close, balance sheet reconciliations, analysis and commentary for senior management.
- Take care of external reporting and statutory compliance, including VAT returns, ONS surveys and other filings.
- Prepare statutory accounts and lead the year-end audit process, working directly with external auditors and preparing technical accounting papers.
- Build and improve processes across recharges, transfer pricing, fixed assets, depreciation and capitalisation.
- Be the finance voice on system and AI-related projects, helping us improve data integrity, reporting efficiency and system functionality.
- Prepare board papers, support cash flow and budget analysis, and get stuck into projects as business needs evolve.
What you’ll bring:
- A recognised accountancy qualification, such as ACA, ACCA or equivalent, with 2+ years of post-qualified experience and previous industry experience.
- Experience preparing statutory accounts and managing external audit processes, including technical accounting conversations.
- Strong technical accounting knowledge, including IFRS and Companies Act requirements, with the confidence to work through complex issues.
- Solid operational accounting experience, including journals, balance sheet reconciliations and management accounts.
- A clear, confident communication style, with the ability to build trust and credibility across different teams.
- Great organisation and project management skills, plus curiosity for automation, AI and smarter ways of working.
What you’ll get in return: We know life doesn’t stop when work starts. So we’ve built our benefits to support you - at work and beyond.
- Life – support when it matters most, with healthcare from day one, family-friendly policies and help for life’s bigger moments.
- Work – the foundations that set you up for the future, including a competitive pension, life assurance and options like our EV scheme.
- Spirit – space to grow and enjoy the journey, with a personal learning budget, mentoring, volunteering time… and our famous “Screw it, let’s do it” pot.
It’s all designed to help you feel your best, do your best, and enjoy the ride - with a few extra Virgin touches along the way (because we don’t really do “standard”).
The essentials:
- Role type: Permanent
- Salary: £60,000 - £67,000 + bonus — we’re big on transparency, so no smoke and mirrors here. We’ll always offer a salary that reflects your experience, with room to grow within the range.
- Where you’ll work: We come together in the office approx. 2 days a week — the rest is yours to work in your own space.
- Close date: 05 June 2026
Bring your whole self: We welcome people from all walks of life, with all kinds of experiences and ways of thinking. Different perspectives, however your mind works, help us see things differently and do things better.
If there’s anything we can do to support you through the hiring process, just let us know, we’ll always do our best to make it work for you.
We believe in using business as a force for good, creating positive change for our people, our communities and the world around us. That includes being a Fair Chance employer and championing strengths like dyslexic thinking - staying open, listening to individual circumstances and focusing on potential.
A quick note on checks: For this role, we’ll need to carry out some essential checks (for example, DBS screening or qualifications). These would only happen at the final stages of the process. We’ll always be upfront about what’s needed, get your consent first, and handle everything fairly and sensitively.
As a Fair Chance employer, we focus on potential — so if you’d like to talk anything through, just let us know. We’re always open.
