We have a new role for an IP Design Engineer to join our Connectivity Design Team. This is a permanent role with a salary of £35,000 to £45,000. This is a key role to deliver IP solutions against agreed design principles and technical standards to produce secure and resilient designs. Producing documents, materials and resource requirements for complex solutions that comply with architecture and security standards.
The role requires the IP Design Engineer to work closely with Core IP Engineering, Network Deployment, Delivery Management, Project management and our Internal customers like B2B, Entertainment/TV platforms, Voice platforms, Site Exit programmes, Network capacity and planning.
The role would be well suited to an established IP Designer or Network Engineer/Designer, Network/Field operations background looking to move into a data/design role.
Key responsibilities & accountabilities:- Producing design documentation to enable successful implementation of complex IP network, including end to end design schematics showing logical and physical network infrastructure.
- Delivers all aspects of the IP network design cost effectively meeting technical requirements and conforming to the Virgin Media O2 architectures & engineering standards, security requirements, topologies, management systems and processes.
- Creating physical and logical inventory records for all IP network or infrastructure that meet the required standards and timescales for production.
- Owns and presents the technical solution at meetings to scope the detailed design deliverables.

The must haves:- Cisco Certifications, such as Cisco CCDP, CCNA, CCNP etc.
- A good technical knowledge of ISP/Telecommunications product capabilities and the technical framework in which they operate.
- In-depth experience of ISP or Telecommunications networks, Voice, Core IP and Optical Transport technologies, products and services.
- Understanding of IP networks and protocols, including the setting up of MPLS paths.
- Experience of working with systems (routers, switches, firewalls, etc.) from key vendors such as Cisco, Juniper, Nokia and Ciena.
- Juniper Certifications such as JNCIA etc.
- Understanding of addressing schemes, BGP, IS-IS, OSPF, RIP and of signalling protocols such as RSVP and LDP.
