Senior Network Technology Consultant

We are looking for a Senior Network Technology Consultant on a 6‑month fixed‑term contract to support the ongoing evolution of our network.

You will provide an internal technical strategy consultancy service, working with key architecture, engineering, and planning functions to craft high‑level options, costs, and lead times at the concept evaluation stage, and collaborate closely with finance teams to develop robust investment cases that influence hundreds of millions of capital spend within the UK fixed network.

Responsibilities

  • Support technology decision‑making processes and evaluate major investment proposals for key network and technology platforms.
  • Provide strategic consulting to shape the future of the network with architecture, engineering, planning teams, and vendors.
  • Collaborate with finance teams to develop investment cases, ensuring costs and benefits are measurable and all viable options are considered.
  • Assist in crafting technical briefing packs and documenting technical roadmaps across engineering functions.

Qualifications

  • Strong, proven technical knowledge of the fixed‑network infrastructure.
  • Experience pulling together domain roadmaps across different engineering functions.
  • Advanced level skills in Excel for financial modelling and data analysis.
  • Experience creating technical briefing packs and presenting complex information to cross‑functional teams.
  • Track record of innovation and improving service and customer experience across the access network.
  • Experience developing architectural solutions within a Tier1 carrier‑class network to support network access products.
  • Technical expertise in PON technology, including passive and logical FTTP architecture, L2 Aggregation, XGSPON, OLTs, and BNGs, with a focus on virtualisation.
  • Knowledge of emerging technologies such as SR‑MPLS.
