This is a key senior engineering role within our Operations function, focused on keeping our enterprise voice and unified communications platforms running at their best. You’ll play a critical part in supporting and evolving services that underpin O2 Business and wider VMO2 customers, working across core network and hosted voice environments. You’ll be hands‑on with provisioning, fault diagnosis, software upgrades and complex incidents, while also contributing to change delivery and new product development. Working closely with engineering, test, delivery teams and third‑party partners you’ll help ensure our services are resilient, secure and ready for the future, including participation in a 24x7 on‑call rota.
Responsibilities:
- Provision, diagnose faults, perform software upgrades and resolve complex incidents.
- Deliver change, support new product development and work with engineering, test, delivery teams and third‑party partners to ensure services are resilient, secure and future‑ready.
- Participate in a 24x7 on‑call rota.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in Unified Communications with previous knowledge of Metaswitch and DSTNY TelepoUC call delivery platforms.
- Understanding of TCP/IP troubleshooting networks, DNS, VPN routing, VLANs, firewalls and VoIP technology exposure.
- Highly competent with a detailed understanding of SIP signalling and decoding.
- Experience with SIP trunking.
- Linux/Unix skills (SUSE, Redhat, Centos and Debian).
- Knowledge of hardware and software‑based SBCs (Perimeta and AudioCodes being advantageous).
- Experience with Microsoft and Cisco UC products such as Microsoft Operator Connect, Teams Phone Mobile, Cisco Webex and Webex Go deployment in fixed and mobile environments an advantage.
- Competent with network tracing tools – Empirix, Intellisight.
Additional Desired Skills:
- Knowledge of customer environments: IP PBX and legacy systems, including use of protocol converters where required.
- Experience with analytics tools and IPSLA.
- Vendor Management experience.
- Good presentation skills.
