We’re hiring not one, but two Security Support Engineers to join our Security Engineering team, because one brilliant mind clearly isn’t enough. This is a hands‑on role at the heart of how we keep Virgin Media O2 secure, supporting the tools and platforms that protect our customers, our colleagues and our networks every single day. You’ll be working across a wide range of security technologies, from SIEM and monitoring tools through to endpoint, identity, cloud and perimeter controls. No two days look the same. One minute you might be tuning policies or deploying new configurations, the next you could be automating integrations, supporting an investigation or working with vendors and internal teams to keep our security tooling running smoothly and improving all the time.

Qualifications

  • Strong working knowledge of Windows Server and Linux operating systems, with experience in Red Hat environments.
  • Proven ability to use network troubleshooting tools and techniques to diagnose issues and identify effective solutions.
  • Hands‑on experience with scripting or coding in at least one language such as Bash, Python or PowerShell.
  • Demonstrated problem‑solving mindset, with the ability to break down complex technical issues and communicate them clearly to a range of stakeholders.
  • Experience working with at least one Security Incident and Event Management platform, such as Splunk, ArcSight, Azure Sentinel or Google Chronicle.
  • Practical understanding of policy‑driven security technologies, with hands‑on exposure to endpoint and/or perimeter security controls.
  • CompTIA Security+ certification (or equivalent) is required.

Additional Requirements

  • A naturally inquisitive approach, with the curiosity to dig into issues, ask the right questions and get to the root cause rather than settling for surface answers.
  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to work methodically, follow processes accurately and spot inconsistencies while balancing pace and quality.

Benefits

We know life isn’t just about work, so our benefits are built to support you in the moments that matter. You’ll get Bupa healthcare, wellbeing support, life cover, a pension and generous holiday –plus your birthday off. Additionally, optional electric vehicle lease and Cycle2Work schemes, dental insurance, neurodiversity assessments, and discounts on broadband, TV and mobile. You’ll also get access to the Virgin Family platform and the O₂ Priority app, with exclusive rewards, experiences and chances to attend events.
