Summary
The Security Monitoring Analyst is the organisation’s first line of defence against cyber threats, playing a critical role in safeguarding systems, networks, and data. Based in Northampton, the role focuses on timely detection, analysis, and triage of security alerts to prevent incidents from escalating. Working closely with the Security Monitoring Investigation Manager, the analyst monitors alerts generated by advanced security tooling, accurately classifies incidents based on severity, and ensures clear documentation and appropriate escalation in line with defined procedures. Through constant vigilance, strong attention to detail, and collaboration with colleagues, the role supports a proactive and resilient security posture while contributing to knowledge sharing and seamless 24/7 operational coverage.
Shift Schedule
This is a shift‑based role with a combination of 7 night shifts and 7 day shifts over a 28‑day period with remainder being rest days.
Must Haves
- Foundational understanding of cyber security threats, vulnerabilities and incidents
- Familiarity with security tools such as SIEM or similar monitoring platforms
- Ability to analyse logs, network traffic and security alerts
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to assess and prioritise incidents
- Proven ability to manage multiple tasks effectively under pressure
Other Requirements
- Previous exposure to a SOC or IT security environment
- Experience creating and managing incident tickets or documentation
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Willingness to work towards cyber security certifications
- A relevant degree in Cybersecurity, IT or a related field
