This job is with Virgin Media O2, an inclusive employer and a member of myGwork – the largest global platform for the LGBTQ+ business community. We have a great new role for a FinOps Lead to join our Core Engineering function, this is a key leadership role spanning all cloud operations across CTO and CIO. You will be tasked on helping Virgin Media O2 become more intentional, transparent and sustainable in how we invest in cloud technology.
As our FinOps Lead, you will be at the heart of driving a cost conscious culture, ensuring that value, efficiency and financial accountability are embedded into how we design, build and run our platforms. Working closely with Finance, Product and Engineering leaders, you will shape and mature our FinOps operating model across the business. You will lead initiatives that reduce waste, improve unit economics and automate financial reporting, while acting as a trusted advisor to teams across the organisation.
This role blends deep cloud and financial expertise with strong influencing skills, organisational change and a relentless focus on measurable outcomes.
The must haves
- Proven experience in cloud financial management, FinOps, cloud architecture or cloud consulting
- Hands on experience with major cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure or GCP
- Strong understanding of cloud cost optimisation strategies and financial governance
- Experience using cloud cost management tools such as Cloudability or CloudHealth
The other stuff we are looking for
- Experience working with SaaS infrastructure economics
- Exposure to GCP BigQuery
- Experience driving cost aware behaviours and shift left practices within engineering teams
- FinOps Certified Practitioner qualification
- Experience contributing to cloud cost KPIs, dashboards and maturity assessments
