The predicted salary is between 28800 - 43200 £ per year.

We are currently on the lookout for a Fibre Engineer to support our growth ambitions and drive our goals! Working on our expanding network in a field-based role covering Edinburgh and the surrounding areas, you will be part of a dynamic national team specialising in fibre splicing and fibre testing activities. It is key within this position that you understand site/cabinet safety and ensure all outstanding work is carried out with full regard to the New Road and Street Works Act 1991 (NRSWA). After all, we need to provide an excellent service and be safe at the same time!

Key Duties Include:

  • Working to an agreed specification carrying out fibre splicing activities.
  • All types of fibre testing activity will be required ranging but not exclusive to OTDR, ILM and PMD testing.
  • Supporting the team by providing technical advice.
  • Provide quality control of all contractor work within the network.

Due to the nature of the role, you will occasionally be required to travel outside of the region for work or training (including overnight stays). Working outside of standard hours as well as working extra hours will also sometimes be necessary.

The must haves:

  • Experience working in the telecommunications industry in a similar role.
  • NRSWA qualified (Operative).
  • Ability to diagnose fibre related issues pinpointing areas of improvement against a set specification, with the ability to read and work to supplied fibre plans.
  • Experience in fibre splicing and testing.
  • Experience of safe working at heights and working with hand and power tools.
  • Due to the nature of the role, a full driving licence is required.

The other stuff we are looking for:

  • Ability to resolve difficult situations.
  • Able to work unsupervised using your own initiative.
  • Basic computer skills.
