Join a team at the heart of a large-scale, mission-critical network environment, where your expertise directly underpins connectivity for millions of customers. As an Internet and Data Services Engineer, you'll play a pivotal role in designing, supporting and optimising high-performance IP/MPLS core networks across WAN, LAN and mobile backhaul services, spanning 2G, 3G, 4G, 5G, Voice and IMS technologies. You'll be trusted with maintaining outstanding network resilience, availability and performance, ensuring a seamless end-to-end customer experience in a complex, always-on environment.
Working within established ITIL frameworks, you'll help deliver managed services that meet rigorous quality and security standards, including ISO 9001, ISO 20000 and ISO 27001, while operating in line with key industry governance requirements such as N3, PCI, FSA and IL2/3. This role is ideal for a technically confident engineer who enjoys hands-on ownership and solving complex network challenges. You'll bring CCNP-level knowledge (or equivalent experience) and a solid background working in core or aggregation networks within an ISP or service provider environment.
Your day-to-day work will involve advanced routing, switching and security technologies, with exposure to Juniper and Cisco platforms, Nokia routers, Fortinet firewalls and F5 solutions. In return, you'll gain the opportunity to work on large-scale, enterprise-grade networks, deepen your technical expertise across multiple platforms, and play a visible role in shaping the performance and reliability of a critical national infrastructure.
The must haves:
- Strong knowledge of IP/MPLS, routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, IS-IS), MPBGP, MPLS LDP, VRF, QoS and large-scale service provider networks.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex networking issues at a senior/3rd-line level.
- Experience with Juniper and Cisco routing platforms and BRAS/BNG systems.
- Knowledge and exposure to 4G/5G infrastructure and building blocks.
- Automation/script experience (Python, Ansible or equivalent for operational efficiency).
The other stuff we are looking for:
- Excellent communication, analysis, and stakeholder-management skills.
- Familiarity with F5 load balancers, firewalls, and core network infrastructure.
