You will spearhead the commercial expansion of our Data Monetisation business across key sectors. Your remit will span the full business development lifecycle, including market strategy and segmentation, client and broker engagement, deal structuring and closure, onboarding, and customer success. This is a rare opportunity to build and shape a high-growth revenue area within one of the UK's largest and most recognisable brands. The size, scale and credibility of VMO2 create a platform to engage with major clients and broker/distributor channels, while working on high-value, complex data partnerships that are significantly larger than those typically available in smaller organisations.
We're looking for someone with proven experience in a net-new business development role within data or insight-led solutions, with a track record of building pipeline from the ground up, opening new markets and converting complex opportunities; experience in a start-up or high-growth environment would be highly desirable. Success in this role will be critical to securing early high-value deals, validating our data-product vision, and establishing scalable revenue verticals that can expand across regulated and insight-led sectors.
The must haves
- Proven track record selling data, analytics or alternative-data solutions.
- Proven builder who has personally originated and closed new business in an early-stage or zero-to-one commercial environment - without reliance on an established sales machine, inbound demand, or brand pull.
- Strong negotiation, deal structuring, and contract management skills - comfortable dealing with compliance, licensing, and legal complexity.
- Deep understanding of B2B data buying cycles, procurement processes, value drivers (risk models, credit decisioning, fraud, PE/quant strategies).
- Ability to manage brokers or reseller/distributor relationships, and build a repeatable revenue generation model through them.
- Excellent stakeholder management: able to interface with broker partners, C-level/tier-1 buyers, internal engineering, privacy and product teams.
- Existing network or contacts, especially those dealing in alternative data or quant strategies.
The other stuff we are looking for
- Familiarity with regulated markets, data privacy, anonymisation methods, PETs or data-governance frameworks.
- Prior experience working with large datasets, data licensing, data compliance or data-driven products.
