We’re looking for a Head of Strategy to play a pivotal role in shaping Virgin Media O2’s long-term direction and driving decisions that will define our future. Reporting to the Director of Corporate Strategy, you’ll act as a key interface with our Executive Committee, Senior Leadership Team, and shareholders—leading high-impact projects that guide investment choices, unlock growth opportunities, and address the biggest challenges in the TMT sector.
As the leader of a talented team, you’ll evaluate strategic options, build scenarios for future market evolution, and develop compelling strategy papers that influence decision-making at the highest levels. You’ll also work hand-in-hand with senior stakeholders to identify risks, seize opportunities, and ensure VMO2 remains ahead of disruption in one of the world’s most dynamic industries.
The must haves
- Proven experience in strategy leadership relevant to a tier 1 global TMT business
- Leading analytical and critical thinking capabilities, with deep expertise in decision frameworks and quantitative models
- Effective and credible communicator with the ability to influence at all levels, including EC members, shareholders, and external influencers
- An innovator with strong commercial competence and proven negotiating skills
- Excellent collaboration skills, with the ability to build positive relationships and lead cross-functional project teams
The other stuff we are looking for
- Strong understanding of the UK and international TMT markets, including competitor strategies and ownership models
- Corporate Strategy experience in adjacent markets such as digital, finance, or retail
- M&A and joint venture experience, including evaluating deals, alignment modeling, and integrating post-merger
- Knowledge of agile methodologies and experience working in agile environments
- A passion for continuous improvement, transformation, and digital innovation
