About Us

At Believ, formerly known as Liberty Charge, we believe sustainable transport should be accessible to everyone. We’re a Charge Point Operator (CPO) on a mission to create the UK’s most reliable electric vehicle charging network that doesn’t cost the earth and leaves no one behind. We work closely with local authorities and businesses to deliver reliable, high quality charging networks at pace, at scale and at zero cost. We offer all the advantages of being a scale-up business, but with the added security and long-term backing from well-known parents – Liberty Global (who also own our delivery partner, Virgin Media O2) and Zouk Capital (who manage the Government’s Charging Investment Infrastructure Fund). You’ll be joining this exciting journey as we scale, and work with us to hit the ambitious targets our shareholders have set. You’ll become part of a passionate and supportive team in a fast-paced, dynamic and result-driven environment.

About the Role

This role reports to the Head of Hardware & Partnerships and sits within the Network Performance team. Its initial focus is to be a key team member in Believ's socket adoption projects as we scale up our socket adoption programme, leading the day-to-day delivery and bringing key asset decisions to the Head of Hardware & Partnerships. These projects involve taking on charging assets from other Charge Point Operators (CPOs); from local authorities that wish to transfer their networks to us; and through opportunistic M&A activity. This is mostly, but not always UK-only work, so a willingness to occasionally travel is important. Beyond an initial focus on migration projects, the role spans across a range of other projects being developed to define and expand the technical solutions available to the business. As such it includes supplier onboarding, technical due diligence, and commercial contracting. In short, we are looking for a versatile operator who can move between commercial, technical and operational work – turning their hand to most things while remaining highly diligent. You will be as comfortable in a slide deck or a spreadsheet as you are with the underlying technology and getting hands-on in the field. You will need to balance commercial viability with technical reality, communicate clearly with internal and external stakeholders, and keep multiple workstreams moving to time and quality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Have project management responsibility for the end-to-end lifecycle of charger adoption and migration projects, including: Initial site surveys and field assessments, Desk-based reviews of asset lists and registers, Envisioning and creating the project flow from initial assessment through to full integration onto the Believ network, Recommending keep / swap / remove decisions for each asset to the Head of Hardware & Partnerships and the Network Performance Director
  • Keeping projects on time, on budget and to a high standard of quality
  • Coordinating the technical side of each project – connectivity, back-office and OCPP re-pointing, tariffs and roaming – working with internal teams and third parties
  • Iteratively refine and improve the socket adoption process, capturing lessons learned in a repeatable, well-documented playbook
  • Develop, execute and document processes for the deployment (or adoption) of new technology onto the charging infrastructure network as required
  • Understand and develop the consumer experience at charging infrastructure sites, ensuring drivers can charge as confidently on sites with new or adopted technology as they would on our more established site archetypes
  • Build and maintain accurate asset registers and project trackers and ensure asset data is correctly captured in Believ’s back-office systems
  • Validate the compliance and safety status of any acquired assets (e.g. electrical safety / EICR, commissioning records, warranties) and flag any remediation needs
  • Read and interpret commercial contracts confidently from the perspective of both the buyer and the seller
  • Negotiate and develop terms with counterparties, partners and suppliers for hardware and spare parts supply agreements, as well as supporting commercial contract negotiation for socket adoption projects
  • Support the sales team on new work opportunities, including client-facing work where needed
  • Support technical due diligence on prospective assets, suppliers and acquisition targets where necessary
  • Support the onboarding of new suppliers
  • Produce effective project documentation and report progress, risks and challenges clearly to the wider Networks team, so projects stay on time and to a high standard
  • Always prioritise safety and the customer experience

  • 5 years’ relevant experience in project delivery, engineering, or a consultancy role
  • An engineering or technical background (degree or equivalent practical experience)
  • Strong commercial acumen – comfortable reading, drafting input to, and negotiating contracts

  • Highly competent in Excel and PowerPoint, with confident data-handling
  • Highly organised, detail-oriented and self-driven; comfortable with ambiguity and able to run several workstreams at once
  • Excellent communicator with strong interpersonal skills; confident with external clients and senior stakeholders
  • Working knowledge of EV charging hardware and standards (e.g. OCPP, or the demonstrable ability to get up to speed quickly) or a similar industry
  • A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel, including occasional travel outside the UK
  • Prepared to flag risks early and bring solutions, not just problems
