We’re looking for a Senior Engineering Manager to join our team in Leeds City Centre on a permanent basis. This is a hybrid role, with two days in the office and three days working remotely each week.
Responsibilities
- Lead, develop, and retain a high‑performing team of senior engineers.
- Set clear expectations, run effective 1:1s, and provide candid feedback.
- Own end‑to‑end hiring, including technical bar, interviews, and onboarding.
- Drive delivery outcomes across scope, quality, pace, and predictability.
- Translate product roadmaps into clear, actionable engineering plans.
- Remove blockers quickly to maintain momentum and delivery pace.
- Uphold high engineering standards across code quality, architecture, and CI/CD.
- Contribute to architecture decisions and promote scalable, reusable design.
- Champion GCP‑first, API‑first, microservices, and AI‑native approaches.
- Partner with cross‑functional teams to ensure compliant, aligned, and on‑track delivery.
- Report to the Director of Engineering, Platform & AI and act as the voice of the Engineering pillar in cross‑functional forums.
- Work closely with Security, GRC, Legal, and external partners to keep delivery compliant and unblocked.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in software engineering, including leadership of senior IC engineers.
- Strong track record leading build‑focused teams (greenfield or platform extensions), not just BAU.
- Confident working with GCP or a comparable hyperscaler.
- Experience delivering API‑first, microservices‑based solutions in production.
- Strong hiring capability with experience building and scaling teams.
- Desirable: Background in a tech‑first environment (e.g. BPO, FinTech).
- Desirable: Exposure to AI/ML platforms (e.g. agent frameworks, LLM integration).
- Desirable: Familiarity with enterprise procurement and vendor governance models.
