The Hotel:
Bringing the brand back to where it all began, Virgin Hotel London-Shoreditch brings personalized hospitality to Shoreditch. Like its counterparts in the UK and US, the hotel offers the unmistakable Virgin experience, personalized hospitality, top-notch amenities, and a prime location in one of London\’s most vibrant neighbourhoods.
Located at 45 Curtain Road the property will see a phased transformation of the 120-bedrooms and 14 Suites, as well as the hotel’s street-level lobby lounge and café. The hotel\’s offering also includes the vibrant Spanish restaurant BiBo by renowned chef Dani Garcia. Guests further benefit from access to the rooftop bar, swimming pool, Marlin’s Mediterranean restaurant, gym, and treatment rooms that form a sophisticated private members’ club sanctuary run by Blue Marlin Ibiza.
The Nitty-Gritty:
What exactly you will be doing…
- Adhere to the Security Manual and Hotel policies and ensure the Security team perform their duties as described in their job descriptions.
- Fulfil all legal responsibilities related to licensing and liaise with local authorities and agencies as needed.
- Liaise with the appropriate authorities in relation to any incident affecting the hotel.
- Carry out security checks and patrols as necessary.
- Ensure that the work area (front and back of house), materials and equivalents are clean and well-maintained at all times, and report defective materials and equipment.
- Ensure that all contractors working within the hotel-on-hotel business can be identified and have a permit to work.
- Organise, arrange and/or carry out training for staff in all areas of Health and Safety.
- Ensure that fire risk assessments, health and safety audits are conducted on an annual basis and all actions arising are implemented to agreed timelines.
- Ensure that all fire equipment, including fire panels, are operational at all times, working with engineering departments in this respect.
- Monitor security systems, including CCTV cameras, alarm systems, and access control, to prevent unauthorized access and detect potential threats.
- Collaborate with all management and team members, maintaining a professional attitude.
- Be committed to a friendly but focused work environment to ensure we attract and retain the best talent.
- Be flexible and extend job duties to carry out any other reasonable duties and responsibilities within the job capability as assigned, including redeployment to alternative departments/areas if required, to meet business demands and guest service needs.
- Create and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs), policies, and departmental guidelines.
- Conduct regular one-to-one meetings, appraisals, and probation reviews with team members to ensure their continuous development and performance.
- Cover shift patterns when required.
- Attend daily line-ups/weekly meetings, and other meetings as required/requested.
- Conduct Fire Training and First Aid training twice annually, ensuring records are filed and available for inspection.
- Conduct training on Manual Handling, Slips, Trips and Falls, ladder use, and sharps and needle safety at least twice annually or as needed.
- Update Risk Assessments on an annual basis, review regularly and change where needed due to an accident, hazard or change in the workplace.
- Fire Risk Assessments should be reviewed on an annual basis or change to the structure of the hotel.
Background must-haves:
- Current, legal and unrestricted ability to work in the UK.
- High school equivalent or education required.
- SIA and First Aid certifications.
- Ability to clearly and pleasantly communicate in English with clients, guests, suppliers, teammates/management, in person, in writing and on the telephone.
- Minimum 1-2 years of Security Manager hospitality experience.
- Proficient in MS Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
