We’re looking for an Assistant Head Housekeeper who leads from the front, champions our culture, and inspires a high-performing team to deliver consistently exceptional guest experiences.
The Details
Your day-to-day will include
- Leadership & Culture
- Support the Head Housekeeper in fostering a personable, genuine, and committed Housekeeping team.
- Assist in maintaining team accountability to operating procedures, service standards, and cultural values through coaching, guidance, and constructive feedback.
- Lead daily team briefings and shift handovers, ensuring clear communication and operational readiness.
- Promote and embody the Virgin “Tone of Voice,” culture, and brand standards, encouraging team members to deliver these consistently.
- Training & Development
- Support the delivery and coordination of departmental training on service standards, safety procedures, and housekeeping skills.
- Assist with onboarding and training new team members, ensuring they are confident and competent in their roles.
- Monitor training completion and help identify development opportunities for team members.
- Encourage a culture of continuous learning, improvement, and teamwork within the department.
- Operations & Standards
- Maintain a strong understanding of all housekeeping procedures, policies, and systems, ensuring standards are consistently followed.
- Assist with allocating daily workloads to Room Attendants and Housekeeping Supervisors to ensure efficient operations and productivity.
- Monitor the completion of departmental checklists and ensure all tasks are carried out to the required standard.
- Conduct routine inspections of guestrooms and public areas, providing feedback to maintain Virgin Hotels cleanliness and presentation standards.
- Support the management of linen, guest amenities, and cleaning supplies, helping to maintain appropriate stock levels.
- Ensure housekeeping activities comply with all health, safety, and hygiene regulations and report any concerns promptly.
- Guest Experience
- Actively support the Know program by encouraging accurate guest profile updates and helping deliver personalised guest experiences.
- Assist in resolving guest requests, questions, and concerns promptly and professionally, ensuring a positive outcome.
- Work closely with Front Office and other departments to resolve operational issues and create memorable guest experiences.
- Collaboration & Reporting
- Work closely with the Head Housekeeper and hotel leadership team to support departmental and hotel objectives.
- Assist in monitoring productivity, quality standards, and departmental performance.
- Provide operational feedback and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support administrative tasks, reporting requirements, and labour planning as directed by the Head Housekeeper.

What qualities are we looking for?
- Proven managerial experience in housekeeping, preferably in a lifestyle or luxury hotel environment.
- Strong people management, training, and coaching skills.

Must-haves
- Current, legal and unrestricted ability to work in the United Kingdom.
- High school or equivalent education required.
- Minimum of two years of Housekeeping managerial experience.
- Working experience in the premium hospitality sector preferred.
- Ability to clearly and pleasantly communicate in English with guests, management/co-workers, both in person and on the telephone.
