Contract: 24 Month FTC / Secondment

Hours: Full Time - days only 4 on 4 off (0700-1900)

In a nutshell

The Material Inventory Planning function provides operational management control of the Virgin Atlantic Airways material inventory in support of engineering maintenance activities. Support the day to day running of the Inventory Control department covering workload balance and ensuring departmental performance meets and strives to meet KPI’s. Optimisation of stocking and minimising costs.

Day to day

You will be responsible for the analysis and implementation of the material inventory policies within the Virgin Atlantic Airways Engineering Supply Chain. Working in a team that develops and keeps a fully optimised material inventory to meet the maintenance activities at Virgin Atlantic Airways in a cost-efficient manner. Monitor and take appropriate action to ensure material usage by location is adjusted to meet future demands while removing surplus or redundant stock as required. Controlling outstations stock holding and liaising with the local maintenance providers to ensure a seamless service to the Virgin Atlantic Airways operation. Working with the Purchasing Team to optimise the inventory holding and purchase of stock to reduce costs and improve efficiency for the business.

About you

We are looking for candidates who have material planning experience with a very good understanding of Inventory control. We seek people with the following skills and experience:

  • Good working knowledge of CAA publications, Component Maintenance Manuals and the ability to understand Manufactures IPC documents and technical drawings is preferred
  • Computer literate and proficient numeracy skills
  • Possess the ability to process complex data from a range of different sources
  • Must be able to demonstrate the ability to work well on their own initiative.
  • Strong commercial acumen
  • Able to work under pressure
  • Professional communication skills
  • Educated to GCSE standard or equivalent
