In a nutshell

This is a rare opportunity to step into a forward-looking Finance role where your impact will be felt well beyond traditional reporting. Sitting within our Financial Planning function, this role exists to rethink, redesign and modernise how financial insight is created, automated and consumed across Virgin Atlantic.

Rather than owning day-to-day BAU reporting, you’ll focus on transforming how it’s done - simplifying complex processes, automating manual effort, and elevating insight so senior leaders can make better, faster decisions. Working closely with Corporate Planning and Finance Reporting, you’ll act as a change agent at the intersection of finance, data and technology, helping future‑proof our reporting and forecasting capability as systems, data and tools continue to evolve.

If you’re motivated by building what comes next, enjoy ambiguity, and want the space to shape a role that grows with the business, this is a chance to make a genuine mark.

Day to day

  • Review existing financial reporting and forecasting outputs (Board, Leadership Team, creditors and internal management) and redesign how they are produced, automated and consumed
  • Lead the development of automated, scalable reporting solutions using modern tools and technologies such as Power BI, Python, Databricks and emerging AI‑enabled capabilities
  • Identify and implement opportunities to streamline data flows, reduce manual intervention and improve data integrity across Financial Planning
  • Champion best practice in data structure, governance and quality, working closely with Finance Systems, Data and IT partners
  • Partner with the Finance Reporting Manager and Corporate Planning teams to enhance how financial performance, risks and opportunities are communicated to senior stakeholders
  • Support the evolution of forecasting and planning processes, with a focus on automation, integration and longer‑term scalability
  • Act as a key contributor to Finance transformation initiatives, including future system change or replacement programmes
  • Bring external thinking and innovation into the team, challenging existing approaches and introducing new ideas the business may not yet have considered

About you

  • You have strong analytical capability and experience improving, redesigning or automating financial reporting, forecasting or data‑led processes
  • You’re comfortable working in ambiguous, project‑based environments where the solution isn’t fully defined from day one
  • You can translate complex financial and data concepts into clear, compelling insight for senior audiences
  • You’re a self‑starter who spots opportunities, builds momentum and sees ideas through with minimal supervision
  • You influence through credibility, expertise and insight rather than formal authority

It would be great if you also bring:

  • A professional finance qualification (ACCA, ACA, CIMA) or equivalent experience (preferred but not essential)
  • Experience within aviation, travel or similarly complex, asset‑heavy industries
  • Hands‑on experience with tools such as Databricks, (Python - desired but not essential), Power BI or comparable analytics platforms
  • Exposure to AI‑enabled tools and a genuine interest in their practical application within Finance
  • Experience working with large, complex datasets and an appreciation of clean data principles
  • Involvement in finance system implementations or major transformation programmes
