We're looking for a Product Owner to join our Technology team. The Tech team provides the whole business with the functionality needed to excel. With a wealth of expertise in design and development, we find solutions and anticipate the needs of our rapidly scaling business. As a Product Owner for Virgin Experience Days, you’ll play a pivotal role as part of a growing team that is redefining the way people discover, select, and enjoy unforgettable experience gifts.
Following a recent investment in the business, our technical and product teams are tasked with delivering a new digital vision for Virgin Experience Days (UK) and Virgin Experience Gifts (USA) across mobile, tablet, and web for both consumers and corporate customers.
- Lead the unification of our global backend tech stack.
- Use data-led insights to identify opportunities to streamline our systems to achieve the best experience for our end users.
- Work closely with stakeholders across the business to gather, understand, and prioritise business requirements, logically assess business cases, and develop relevant KPIs.
- Engage stakeholders at all levels to ensure that the backlog prioritisation meets the needs of the business and develop delivery roadmaps to visualise the development pipeline for your workstreams.
- Translate business requirements into useful user stories and acceptance criteria for the development teams.
- Lead multi-disciplined development teams to evolve the product ensuring that there is a clear understanding of what we are delivering on each product plus the associated costs, benefits, and timelines.
- Own the roadmap for your product ensuring that it is prioritised effectively.
- Facilitate decision making with stakeholders and the agile development team by owning and leading scrum ceremonies.
- Investigate solutions using a range of approaches, including researching competitor analysis, commercially available platforms, and potential partners.
- Dive into the detail capturing requirements in a clear concise format.
- Understand, analyse, and document current processes and workflows.
- Identify and propose opportunities for improvement.
- Gain approval and sign-off on new projects through demos and user acceptance testing.
- Own taking the deliverables to market by managing the release process and communication.
- Track impact of new features and share this with the wider business.
Experience in a D2C eCommerce environment, with knowledge of commerce systems. Experience documenting, understanding, and migrating complex data structures. Experience owning 1st and 3rd party commerce platforms. A complete customer focus backed by commercial awareness, quickly able to assess potential business opportunities. Ability to simplify complex problems, processes, or projects into component parts and explore and evaluate them systematically. Ability to work autonomously or collaboratively with stakeholders and stay open to ideas/suggestions. Ability to work with and manage technical resources including UX, Engineering, and QA. An interest and understanding of relevant commerce technologies. Ability to confidently and effectively present options and recommendations to stakeholders, resolve project issues, and mitigate risks proactively. Ability to see opportunities and pivot quickly to take advantage of them, using data to support decisions and propose improvements to the customer journey and internal processes. Ability to work in a Scrum/agile software development environment. Demonstrable experience of using relevant planning and development tools like JIRA, Confluence, and Lucid chart.
