At Virgin Atlantic Airways, we believe that everyone can take on the world, and it\’s our vision to become the most loved travel company. As we embark on this next exciting stage of our journey, we’re harnessing our spirit of entrepreneurship and innovation to challenge the status quo.

In a nutshell

Virgin Atlantic is seeking a detail-oriented and strategic Software & Hardware Asset Manager to lead the full lifecycle management of IT assets across the organisation. Based within the Technology Management Office, this role is responsible for ensuring the accurate, compliant, and cost-effective use of hardware and software—from procurement through to disposal.

You’ll act as the key link between Technology, Procurement, Finance, and our managed service supplier, ensuring asset-related processes are efficient, auditable, and aligned with business needs. With oversight of asset strategy and tooling such as ServiceNow (including SAM, HAM and CMDB modules), you’ll support audit and compliance requirements while driving value from our technology investments.

This role plays a vital part in supplier performance, cost optimisation, and ensuring the availability of licenses and devices to support the business effectively.

Day to day

Some of your key responsibilities as a Software & Hardware Asset Manager will be:

  • Manage the end-to-end lifecycle of all technology hardware and software assets, ensuring effective use and recovery of assets including procurement, allocation, tracking, and secure disposal.
  • Oversee the maintenance of the Asset Register in collaboration with the supplier, ensuring real-time visibility and accuracy
  • Ensure the correct usage and configuration of ServiceNow SAM, HAM and CMDB modules, maintaining data integrity and completeness across asset and configuration records.
  • Review and validate monthly asset reports, highlighting key trends and potential risk areas.
  • Act as the primary interface for all asset-related services delivered by the supplier and ensure agreed SLAs and reporting deliverables are met in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Support supplier reviews, audits, and performance monitoring, defining and evolving requirements to improve the asset service over time.

About you

We’re looking for someone who not only thrives on the finer details but also sees the bigger picture. We’d also love for you to demonstrate the following:

  • Hands-on experience in IT Asset Management (ITAM), including managing the full lifecycle of software and hardware assets, from procurement to retirement.
  • Working knowledge of configuration and compliance standards, with practical experience using tools like ServiceNow, particularly the CMDB, Hardware Asset Management (HAM) and Software Asset Management (SAM) modules.
  • A solid understanding of software licensing models, such as Microsoft 365 and enterprise applications, with the ability to ensure compliance and optimise usage.
  • Comfortable working with complex data, with the ability to translate it into clear, actionable insights and reports that support decision-making.
  • Proven experience working with or managing third-party suppliers or outsourced service providers, with a collaborative and solutions-focused approach.
  • Familiarity with software compliance audits, including supporting or leading third-party audit processes with confidence and attention to detail.

Ideally, candidates will bring knowledge of maturity models such as CMM, hold relevant certifications like IAITAM CSAM and/or CHAMP, and have experience in project management. ITIL Foundation certification is a plus, and we also welcome candidates with other relevant certifications in asset or configuration management—or equivalent hands-on experience.

If this sounds like you, we would love to hear from you!
