The Principal Enterprise Architect will lead a team of Business Architects, providing strategic direction and architectural oversight across a key business domain. This role partners with senior stakeholders to shape and articulate business and technology strategies that align with Virgin Atlantic’s broader goals. They will ensure the development and governance of current and future state architectures spanning business, application, and data domains. The role is pivotal in aligning architectural roadmaps with strategic priorities, driving innovation and transformation initiatives. Additionally, the Principal Architect will actively contribute to the evolution of Virgin Atlantic’s enterprise-wide technical strategy.
Day to day
- Develop close senior business relationships, understand, and influence business strategies
- Day to day management of the team to deliver the enterprise architecture to support the business strategy
- Line management and pastoral care of the team, including performance management and career development
- Develop close business relationships, understand, and influence digital business strategies
- Develop Current and Future State Business, Data and Application Architectures
- Develop and maintain pragmatic and actionable roadmaps
- Support the formation of Technology Investment Portfolios
- Contribute to Technical Architectures to ensure alignment to Business Strategy
- Contribute to the development of Technical Strategies and Reference Architectures
- Manage Total Risk and Cost across the IT Estate
- Promote Guardrail Adherence
- Review Solutions Designs
- Govern Target and Reference Architectures
About you
- Strong background in architecture roles (e.g., Solution, Business, or Enterprise).
- Experience across business, application, and data architecture.
- Solid understanding of Enterprise Architecture frameworks (e.g., TOGAF).
- Proven leadership of small architecture teams.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management.
- Industry experience in complex or regulated environments; airline experience a plus.
- Strategic mindset with hands-on delivery capability.
- Experience of enterprise architecture tools like LeanIX would be advantageous
