Hours: 37.5 per week, Monday to Friday

Location: Flexible working with up to 3 days a week in our VHQ, Crawley

Contract: 12 Months FTC/Secondment

This role is a fixed term contract for one year, reporting into the Head of Sustainability & Community, within the Corporate Development function.

The Sustainability & Community Specialist will deliver Virgin Atlantic’s Sustainability & Community strategy, providing invaluable subject matter expertise, data insights, and analytics across our exciting Sustainability & Community programme, the inspiring Passport to Change (STEM outreach programme), and our impactful disaster relief work through Save the Children.

In this role, you’ll provide essential administration and project support across various departmental and cross-functional initiatives. You’ll collaborate with all business areas to drive better sustainability insights, enhance data collection analytics, and publish departmental KPIs. Your efforts will ensure we stay on track and meet our shared goals.

Day to day

  1. Provide Sustainability & Community performance insights and data reporting, including monthly KPI reporting to the wider business.
  2. Input into the delivery and communication of Virgin Atlantic’s mid/long-term sustainability & community targets.
  3. Support with collection and analysis of sustainability and community data.
  4. Maintain VAA’s sustainability data management systems.
  5. Support with the delivery and administration of our Community programme, including Passport to Change.
  6. Assist with the data collection and analysis of VAA’s energy/waste and water consumption data.
  7. Support the annual reporting process and delivery, including compliance with mandatory reporting requirements.
  8. Support responses/analysis for policy consultations.
  9. Review and maintain up-to-date internal views on latest reporting requirements and policies.
  10. Work on and own assigned projects related to commercial initiatives.

About you

Are you an analytical, results-driven individual with a passion for sustainability? Are you a Bachelor’s or Master’s graduate in sustainability, maths, or environmental science, or do you have proven analytical experience? Then this could be a role for you!

You’ll have a track record of performing well and a passion for sustainability and community, alongside the ability to grasp project planning and delivery. You’ll be detail-oriented with excellent communication skills.

In addition to the above, we’re looking for someone who can demonstrate:

  1. Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  2. Strong attention to detail and an ability to process and present complex data.
  3. Experience with Excel and/or other data analysis software.
  4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  5. Ability to balance a commitment to sustainability with a pragmatic, business-oriented approach.
