The Wellbeing & Safeguarding Advisor plays a key role in supporting the wellbeing and safeguarding of our people, members and communities, ensuring Virgin Active remains a safe, inclusive and supportive place to work and belong. Working closely with club teams and the wider People Team, you will provide expert advice, guidance and practical support on wellbeing, mental health and safeguarding matters across the business.

The Role

  • Act as a key point of contact for wellbeing and safeguarding support, providing advice and guidance to managers and team members.
  • Promote a proactive wellbeing culture through awareness campaigns, initiatives and training programmes.
  • Manage safeguarding concerns and referrals, ensuring cases are handled appropriately and in line with policy and legislation.
  • Support and coach Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSLs), ensuring compliance and capability across the business.
  • Deliver safeguarding, wellbeing and mental health training and awareness initiatives.
  • Manage DBS processes and maintain safeguarding and wellbeing compliance across the organisation.
  • Monitor wellbeing and safeguarding activity, identifying trends, risks and opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Support the development of policies, procedures and best practice guidance.
  • Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to enhance support available to team members.
  • Travel across the UK to support clubs and key wellbeing and safeguarding initiatives.

Experience

  • Professional qualification in Safeguarding, Wellbeing, Mental Health or a related field.
  • Mental Health First Aid qualification.
  • Experience managing safeguarding referrals and investigations.
  • Experience delivering training, workshops or awareness programmes.
  • Strong knowledge of safeguarding legislation and best practice relating to children and vulnerable adults.
  • Experience supporting wellbeing, mental health or safeguarding concerns within a workplace environment.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management and influencing skills.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and sensitive information.
  • Experience working within a multi‑site or operational environment.

  • Experience managing DBS processes and safeguarding compliance.
  • Experience within the leisure, hospitality, health or wellbeing sectors.
  • Experience working with external agencies and specialist support services.
  • Experience using data and insight to drive wellbeing and safeguarding improvements.
