We are looking for a Product Designer to join our Digital & Tech Transformation department. The role reports directly to the Group Head of Digital Design, who reports directly to the Chief Digital & Technology Officer. The team operates like a startup, with close collaboration between design, product, and engineering. Together, the team aims to meaningfully blend the member experience across digital and physical touchpoints.

We are looking for a Senior Web Designer with exceptional digital craft, strong commercial instincts, and a deep understanding of how premium brand experiences translate into effective web journeys. This is a hands-on role for someone who can take a global website from strategy into execution, balancing brand expression, usability, conversion, accessibility, localisation, and technical feasibility. You will help shape the future Virgin Active web experience across key journeys, including club discovery, membership exploration, joining online, campaign landing pages, content pages, and ongoing website optimisation.

This role is ideal for a designer who understands that great web design is not only visual. It is structure, clarity, interaction, performance, accessibility, storytelling, and commercial effectiveness working together. You will not only create attractive pages. You will be expected to think deeply about journeys, systems, content structure, interaction, accessibility, conversion, and long-term maintainability. This is a hybrid role requiring three days per week in our office in London, EC4V 2AR.

Experience Required

  • Strong experience in web design, responsive design, digital brand expression, and high-quality interface craft.
  • Comfortable working across the full design process, from early exploration to final production-ready design.
  • Strong visual design taste and digital craft.
  • Experience designing responsive websites across desktop and mobile web.
  • Strong understanding of layout, typography, hierarchy, spacing, imagery, motion, and interaction.
  • Ability to design commercially effective user journeys.
  • Experience working with design systems and reusable components.
  • Strong Figma capability.
  • Ability to work closely with engineers and understand technical constraints.
  • Ability to collaborate with brand, marketing, content, product, and commercial stakeholders.
  • Good understanding of accessibility and inclusive design.
  • Ability to create polished, production-ready design documentation.
  • Confidence presenting design decisions clearly and constructively.
  • High attention to detail and strong ownership of design quality.

Experience in fitness, wellness, hospitality, lifestyle, travel, retail, or premium consumer brands would be valuable, but is not essential.

Ways of Working

This role is 100% hands-on and web-focused. You will be expected to move fluidly between concept design, responsive UI design, design system thinking, stakeholder collaboration, and delivery support. You will work closely with the Group Head of Digital Design and partner with product, engineering, brand, marketing, and content teams to deliver a web experience that can scale across all Virgin Active territories. The team includes research capability that this role can leverage, without being required to actively perform research activities.
