Vires Velo is a premium bike retailer with two showrooms and idmatch bike fitting centres, in Silverstone and Hethel. We’re partnered with leading cycling brands, including Factor, Black Inc and Sarto, and have built a reputation for delivering a first‑class bike purchasing experience. We’re looking for an experienced mechanic to join our team in Hethel and build bikes our customers will love riding.
The Role
As Senior Mechanic, most of your time will go on building high‑end road, gravel and performance bikes, from new bike preparation to full custom builds. You’ll work on some of the best frames and components available, from brands like Factor, Black Inc and Sarto. Every bike that leaves us should be built to an exceptional standard. You’ll also help with general workshop tasks and give customers advice.
For anyone interested, we also offer full training in idmatch bike fitting, with the opportunity to develop your fitting skills further.
What you’ll be doing
- Building premium bikes from the frame up, including custom and dream builds
- Preparing new bikes for customers to a meticulous, showroom‑ready standard
- Installing and setting up electronic groupsets (Shimano Di2, SRAM AXS)
- Fitting upgrades and components, including wheels, finishing kit and power meters
- Carrying out servicing and repairs as needed
- Giving customers clear, friendly advice on their bikes and builds
- Working as part of a close team and sharing ideas to keep improving how we work
What we’re looking for
- Proven hands‑on experience as a bike mechanic
- Experience building and working on premium bikes and electronic groupsets
- Experience with internal cable routing and integrated cockpits
- Thorough knowledge of bike components, compatibility and setup
- A meticulous eye for detail and real pride in a quality finish
- Good communication skills with customers and colleagues
- A team player with a professional, positive attitude
Nice to have:
- An interest in bike fitting. We offer full idmatch fitting training and the chance to build your skills further
- Formal training or certification, e.g. Cytech or a manufacturer qualification (welcome, but experience counts most)
