We are hiring a student for a 12-month placement in our R&D laboratory at Biocity Glasgow. The selected candidate will participate in the development of our diagnostic platform ViraxImmune™.
During this one-year placement, you will play an active role in the development of peptide pools containing antigen-derived epitopes for memory T cell activation. You will be fully integrated into the daily activities of the laboratory and collaborate closely with our experienced team.
Throughout the placement, you will receive comprehensive training from senior scientists and progressively take on more responsibilities as your skills develop. You will learn how to:
- Perform solid-phase peptide synthesis using automated peptide synthesizers.
- Purify and characterize peptides using analytical techniques such as HPLC and LCMS.
- Operate freeze-drying equipment for peptide sample preparation.
- Prepare and handle biological and chemical samples following established protocols.
By the end of the placement, you will have gained hands-on experience in peptide chemistry and developed a solid working knowledge of chromatography and mass spectrometry techniques. You will also acquire the confidence and ability to perform independent laboratory work in a professional research environment.
