Location: Hybrid | Permanent | Up to £60,000 DOE

VIQU are partnering with a leading UK vehicle manufacturer to recruit a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their growing Engineering team. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced design engineer to work on innovative commercial vehicle projects, supporting the design and development of mechanical systems from concept through to production.

You'll be responsible for:

  • Delivering robust mechanical designs.
  • Producing detailed CAD models and engineering documentation.
  • Working closely with manufacturing, quality and wider engineering teams to develop reliable, production-ready solutions.
  • Designing mechanical components, assemblies and vehicle systems from concept through to production.
  • Producing 3D CAD models, manufacturing drawings, BOMs and engineering documentation.
  • Collaborating with manufacturing, quality and cross-functional engineering teams to deliver production-ready designs.
  • Supporting design reviews, engineering change activities, testing and validation.
  • Investigating technical issues, carrying out root cause analysis and implementing engineering improvements.

Requirements:

  • Experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
  • Strong 3D CAD experience (SolidWorks, Creo, Inventor, Siemens NX or similar).
  • Experience producing manufacturing drawings, BOMs and engineering documentation.
  • Knowledge of GD&T, tolerance analysis and Design for Manufacture principles.
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent engineering qualification.
  • Experience within automotive, commercial vehicles, heavy engineering or special purpose machinery would be advantageous.
