VIQU have partnered with a leading professional services organisation seeking a Senior Microsoft Platform Engineer to join their Core Services and Platforms team. This is a senior, hands-on role focused on owning and evolving enterprise Microsoft platforms across SQL Server, SharePoint, Azure, web, and identity services within a high-availability, regulated environment.
Key Responsibilities of the Senior Microsoft Platform Engineer:
- Provide third-line support for business-critical platform services
- Own and support SQL Server, SharePoint (on-prem and cloud), IIS/web platforms, Azure services, and identity services including SSO and MFA
- Proactively monitor, maintain, and optimise platform performance, availability, capacity, and disaster recovery
- Lead complex troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and incident resolution
- Deliver platform upgrades, deployments, and infrastructure changes in line with change management processes
- Act as a technical lead, mentoring engineers and supporting both BAU and project delivery
- Collaborate with application teams, business services, and third-party vendors
- Participate in an on-call rota supporting core infrastructure services
Key Requirements of the Senior Microsoft Platform Engineer:
- Proven experience managing enterprise Microsoft platform services
- Strong hands-on expertise across SQL Server, SharePoint, Azure, IIS/web infrastructure, reporting platforms, and identity management (SSO/MFA)
- Experience operating at third-line level within complex, global environments
- Strong understanding of performance tuning, monitoring, capacity planning, and disaster recovery
- Experience delivering upgrades and deployments within structured change control environments
- Ability to lead technically, mentor others, and engage effectively with stakeholders
