Operational Technology (OT) experience is essential. This role won't suit someone from a purely enterprise IT background.

You'll take the lead on Windows, virtualisation, and network architecture across multiple major OT projects, contributing to both delivery and pre-sales activity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead design and configuration of Windows Server environments, virtualisation (VMware/Hyper-V), and network infrastructure

  • Define secure architectures in line with IEC 62443 and client-specific standards

  • Support project life cycle documentation (FDS, SDS, test plans), FAT execution, and QA compliance

  • Mentor and review work of junior engineers and provide SME input across bids and live workstreams

  • Interface with internal cyber teams to ensure systems are secure by design

Key Requirements

  • 5+ years' experience working in OT or industrial environments (energy, utilities, critical infrastructure, etc.)

  • Deep technical knowledge of:

    • Windows Server , domain config, GPOs

    • VMware or Hyper-V virtualisation

    • Switch and Firewall configuration

  • Strong understanding of cybersecurity standards (IEC 62443)

  • Confident producing design documentation and leading technical delivery

  • Willingness to travel for projects across the UK

  • Full UK driving licence

Desirables:

  • SCADA platform experience (Zenon, PCS7, WinCC, FactoryTalk, etc.)

  • Knowledge of industrial protocols (Modbus, IEC 104/61850, DNP3) and PLC/RTU platforms (GE, Siemens, Rockwell, Schneider)

  • Experience with IEC 61508/61511 safety systems

  • Familiarity with simulation tools (eg SIMIT, WinMOD) and Legacy systems
