VIQU has partnered with an organisation seeking an experienced Lead Infrastructure Engineer to join a well‑established IT Infrastructure team supporting a complex enterprise environment. This role suits a senior infrastructure professional with strong hands‑on experience across Windows Server, virtualisation, backup technologies and Microsoft 365, working within a predominantly on‑premise environment with Azure delivered via an MSP.
Key Responsibilities for Lead Infrastructure Engineer:
- Provide senior‑level support across enterprise IT infrastructure services.
- Manage and maintain secure, reliable on‑premise and hybrid environments.
- Lead complex incident resolution, including root‑cause analysis and preventative actions.
- Design, implement and improve infrastructure services in line with business needs.
- Monitor performance and ensure SLA compliance across systems and services.
- Lead and contribute to infrastructure projects from design through to delivery.
- Support Windows Server, virtualisation and backup platforms.
- Work with stakeholders and suppliers to deliver service improvements.
- Maintain security, compliance and governance standards.
- Support asset and infrastructure life‑cycle management.
- Mentor junior team members and share knowledge.
- Participate in an on‑call rota.
Essential Skills & Experience for Lead Infrastructure Engineer:
- Senior IT Infrastructure support experience in enterprise environments.
- Strong on‑premise infrastructure experience with hybrid exposure.
- Understanding of Azure delivered via MSP model.
- Windows Server administration experience.
- VMware and/or Hyper‑V experience.
- Veeam Backup & Replication experience.
- Microsoft 365 administration experience.
- Strong incident management and root‑cause analysis skills.
- Good understanding of ITIL frameworks.
- Experience with infrastructure design and continual service improvement.
- Aware of automation, scripting and infrastructure tools.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
