VIQU have partnered with a leading organisation that is looking for a Vehicle Test & Development Team Leader to lead their Test and Development function. This is a hands-on role, managing vehicle validation, test programmes, and a high-performing engineering team, ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic, technical environment.
Key Responsibilities of the Vehicle Test & Development Team Leader:
- Lead the Test and Development team, managing workload, schedules, and resources
- Plan and deliver internal and external vehicle validation and certification activities
- Ensure new technologies, products, and vehicle updates are robustly validated before release
- Manage test equipment, ensuring calibration, maintenance, and readiness
- Conduct regular 1-2-1s, schedule training, and support team development
- Produce concise technical reports and maintain documentation for traceability
- Deliver projects within agreed timescales and cost targets
- Drive process improvements and maintain high-quality standards
- Work cross-functionally with engineering, production, and external partners to resolve technical issues
Key Requirements of the Vehicle Test & Development Team Leader:
- Degree in Engineering or equivalent
- Experience managing a development team in an agile environment
- Hands-on experience with vehicle testing and validation programmes
- Ability to develop test plans, procedures, and standards from scratch
- Knowledge of instrumentation, sensors, DAQ systems, and post-processing software (e.g., HBM QuantumX, Vector DAQ, NI DIAdem, Matlab, CATmanAP, nCode)
- Ability to read and interpret CAN data (J1939)
- Understanding of strain gauges, load cells, displacement transducers, accelerometers, thermocouples, pressure transducers, flow meters, and micros
- Knowledge of engineering standards (EN, FMVSS, ECWVTA)
- Strong analytical skills with root cause analysis and problem-solving
- Leadership experience coaching and mentoring engineers
- Effective communication across all levels and cross-functional teams
- Skilled in dynamic risk assessment and decision-making
- Willingness to travel overseas occasionally
- Willingness to work at supplier/customer sites
- Full driving licence
