VIQU have partnered with an NHS organisation to recruit a hands-on Data Engineer to support critical data integration and ETL workloads across a Microsoft-based environment. This Data Engineer role is focused on stabilising, improving and enhancing existing data pipelines, alongside supporting ongoing modernisation and cloud migration activities.
The successful Data Engineer will play a key role in ensuring the reliability and performance of existing ETL processes, working across a hybrid on-premise and Azure-based data platform.
Key responsibilities include:
- Testing, troubleshooting and supporting existing ETL and data ingestion processes
- Investigating and resolving data issues, failures and performance bottlenecks
- Enhancing and optimising existing SSIS packages and SQL-based integrations
- Developing new ingestion pipelines and transformation logic where required
- Performing data validation, reconciliation and quality assurance activities
- Supporting wider data platform modernisation and Azure migration initiatives
- Collaborating with analytics and reporting teams to ensure downstream data reliability
Key Skills & Experience
- Strong hands-on experience with SQL Server (on-premise) and SSIS
- Advanced T-SQL development and debugging skills
- Proven experience working on ETL pipelines, particularly testing and troubleshooting
- Experience enhancing existing integrations rather than just building from scratch
- Strong experience with data validation, reconciliation and quality assurance
- Experience using Python for ETL, automation or data processing
- Familiarity with Azure SQL or cloud-based data platforms
- Ability to work independently in an operational, delivery-focused environment
Desirable:
- Experience with Microsoft Fabric, Dataverse or Power Platform
- NHS or regulated data environment experience
