SQL Database Administrator – SC Cleared – London/remote – 6‑month
My Customer is seeking an experienced SQL Database Administrator to join a large-scale infrastructure team, supporting a range of critical database transformation and migration projects.
You'll play a key role in delivering database solutions, supporting application migrations, and ensuring SQL environments are secure, resilient, and built to a consistently high standard.
Skills required from the SQL Database Administrator
- Active SC Clearance (mandatory).
- Experience in a Critical National Infrastructure environment
- Strong commercial experience administering Microsoft SQL Server environments.
- Experience working with SQL Server 2016 through to SQL Server 2025.
- Excellent knowledge of Always On Availability Groups, Windows Clustering and High Availability/Disaster Recovery technologies.
- Experience administering SSRS, SSIS and SSAS.
- Strong understanding of SQL Server upgrades, migrations and performance optimisation.
- Experience supporting SQL Server within VMware virtualised environments.
- Knowledge of Power Shell and Power BI.
- Experience working within structured Change Management and Incident Management processes.
- Familiarity with BMC Remedy/Helix or similar ITSM platforms.
Key responsibilities of the SQL Database Administrator
- Build, configure and administer Microsoft SQL Server environments using established standards and best practices.
- Deliver SQL database upgrades, migrations and transformation activities across multiple environments.
- Perform database backups, restores and recovery activities to support ongoing projects.
- Carry out quality assurance checks to ensure newly deployed databases meet technical and operational standards.
- Support the retirement and decommissioning of legacy SQL environments.
- Work closely with Infrastructure, Security and Application teams to deliver successful project outcomes.
- Assist with application and database migrations to new infrastructure, virtual environments and data centres.
The SQL DBA is required onsite 50% of the time in Central London.
