Seeking an experienced Linux engineer to support maintenance, upgrades and general housekeeping.
Responsibilities
- Provide Linux platform support and delivery for production systems.
- Plan and execute maintenance, upgrades and routine housekeeping tasks.
- Manage risk, compliance, audit and security obligations, including disaster recovery and business continuity procedures.
- Engage with stakeholders across senior levels and domain-wide events; communicate effectively on progress and issues.
- Apply best practices and appropriate processes, technologies and resources to deliver high-quality solutions.
- Mandatory Technical Skills
- Experience managing Red Hat Enterprise Linux production systems (RHEL 7 through 10).
- Experience using scripting to automate tasks.
- Planning and prioritising of project delivery activities.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Experience with virtualization technologies (Linux under VMware).
- Experience working within the ITIL framework.
- Experience managing systems with RHN Satellite.
Desirable
- Experience with JBoss.
- Linux performance tuning skills.
- Experience with Linux failover clustering.
- Experience with Kerberos for securing Linux applications and Active Directory integration.
- Experience with Cisco UCS hardware.
- Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity planning and execution.
- Proven skills in aligning IT with organisational drivers and identifying improvement opportunities across services and processes.
- General knowledge of IT application and infrastructure areas related to the domain.
- Knowledge of Puppet or similar configuration management tools.
