We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented 2nd Line Support Engineer to support and maintain server infrastructure across both on-premise and cloud environments. This is a hands-on role suited to someone with solid foundational experience who is looking to deepen their skills across infrastructure, backend systems, and some frontend/server-facing technologies.
You will work closely with senior engineers to support, monitor, and maintain systems, assist with upgrades, and ensure platform stability within a highly regulated environment.
Key Responsibilities- Provide 2nd line support for physical and virtual server environments
- Monitor system performance, investigate issues, and carry out troubleshooting across backend infrastructure
- Support and maintain Windows Server platforms (basic Linux exposure beneficial)
- Assist with server upgrades, patching, and migration activities (Windows & SQL Server)
- Support core services including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy
- Work with monitoring tools to ensure system availability and performance
- Assist in maintaining security standards and compliance requirements
- Collaborate with senior engineers and other teams on infrastructure improvements
- Contribute to documentation, runbooks, and standard operating procedures
- Experience in a 2nd Line Support or similar infrastructure support role
- Working knowledge of Windows Server environments
- Basic understanding of Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy
- Experience troubleshooting server, application, or infrastructure issues
- Awareness of backend systems and how they interact with frontend services
- Exposure to SQL Server (support, basic queries, or maintenance tasks)
- Familiarity with monitoring tools and alerting systems
- Understanding of security and compliance in regulated environments (desirable)
- Exposure to cloud platforms such as Azure or AWS (beneficial but not essential)
- Basic scripting knowledge (PowerShell or similar) is a plus
