MoveATech is a specialist international recruitment business focused on engineering, construction and automation, with particular expertise across the controls and automation sector. As we continue to grow our presence in the US market, we’re looking for an experienced Business Development Consultant to join the team and take ownership of winning new clients within the engineering, automation and controls industries.
This is a genuine new business development role. We’re looking for someone who knows how to identify opportunities, open doors, build relationships with decision-makers and, most importantly, win new business.
The Opportunity
You’ll be responsible for developing MoveATech’s US client base, targeting businesses such as OEMs, system integrators, line builders and automation companies that require specialist technical talent. Working alongside a team with deep industry knowledge, you’ll introduce MoveATech’s recruitment solutions to new organisations and develop those relationships into long-term partnerships. You’ll have the opportunity to sell a range of specialist recruitment solutions, including contract recruitment, permanent recruitment, retained search and project-led/Statement of Work solutions.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Identify and target new business opportunities across the US engineering, automation and controls market.
- Build and manage a strong pipeline of prospective clients.
- Research target companies and identify key decision-makers and influencers.
- Generate new opportunities through proactive outbound activity, networking, referrals and market research.
- Introduce MoveATech and our specialist recruitment solutions to prospective clients.
- Develop relationships with senior stakeholders, hiring managers and decision-makers.
- Understand client hiring challenges and identify opportunities where MoveATech can add genuine value.
- Lead commercial conversations and manage opportunities through to winning new business.
- Develop new accounts into long-term, strategic client relationships.
- Work closely with our recruitment team to deliver against client requirements.
- Maintain accurate CRM records, activity levels and pipeline forecasts.
- Contribute to the ongoing development of MoveATech’s US market strategy.
What We’re Looking For
Most importantly, you must have a proven track record of winning new business. We’re looking for someone who is comfortable picking up the phone, opening conversations with people who don’t know you, developing relationships and turning prospects into paying clients.
You’ll ideally have:
- Proven experience in business development / new business sales.
- A demonstrable track record of winning new clients and generating revenue.
- Experience within recruitment, is highly advantageous, but not essential.
- Experience in automation, controls, industrial technology or a related technical sector is highly advantageous.
- Experience selling into US-based businesses would be highly advantageous.
- Strong prospecting and lead-generation skills.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
- The confidence to engage with senior decision-makers.
- A commercially driven, target-focused mindset.
- Strong negotiation and closing skills.
- The ability to work independently and take ownership of your own pipeline.
- A genuine interest in building long-term client relationships rather than simply making one-off sales.
Why MoveATech?
MoveATech is a specialist business with genuine expertise in the automation and controls market. You’ll be joining a team that understands the technical industries we recruit into and has established relationships across the global automation sector. This is an opportunity to have a direct impact on the growth of the business, with the autonomy to develop new markets, win new clients and build your own portfolio of accounts. We’re based in Portsmouth, but we’re open to considering candidates who want to work remotely. The priority is finding the right person with the commercial drive, industry understanding and proven new-business ability to make the role a success.
The right person will be someone who:
- Loves winning new clients.
- Knows how to sell.
- Isn’t afraid of a cold conversation.
- Can build genuine relationships.
- Has a track record of bringing new clients through the door.
If that sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you.
