This role offers the chance to work on cutting-edge electrical automation systems, overseeing both factory and site acceptance testing, supervising installations, deploying configuration files, resolving faults and ensuring all commissioning activity meets stringent technical and safety standards. It is an excellent opportunity for a Commissioning Engineer or a Test Engineer seeking to develop more site-based experience within a highly regulated environment, supported by an experienced team and exposure to national infrastructure projects. Key Responsibilities of the Commissioning Engineer: • Conduct site and factory acceptance testing in accordance with approved documentation • Supervise installation works and ensure activities follow the correct methods and standards • Develop, review and manage commissioning documentation and project files • Mark up and control drawings and schematics as changes arise • Deploy and verify configuration files for SCADA, RTUs, PLCs, IEDs and network devices • Support preparation of site materials, equipment and test apparatus • Manage commissioning spares and oversee LOTO procedures Perform structured fault finding and ensure issues are fully documented and resolved Key Requirements of the Commissioning Engineer: Background in an Electrical Engineering discipline Strong understanding of test and commissioning methodologies Experience with fault finding on electrical and electronic systems Knowledge of communication networks and protocols (Ethernet, fibre, serial etc.) Understanding of electrical safety and LOTO procedures Competent in deploying configuration files and producing documentation Ability to interpret GA drawings, schematics and wiring diagrams BS7671 18th Edition and C&G 2391 qualifications Experience on National Grid substations and secondary systems Exposure to industrial SCADA systems Strong communication skills, structured working style and ability to work under pressure Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel To discuss this exciting opportunity in more detail, please APPLY NOW.
