Senior Infrastructure Engineer

VIQU have partnered with a leading industrial systems integrator at the forefront of digital transformation in energy, renewables, water and manufacturing. This is a permanent role for a Lead Engineer with SME-level knowledge across Windows Server, VMware/Hyper-V, and Network infrastructure—supporting critical OT environments.
Key Responsibilities of the Lead Engineer:
- Design and implement secure OT systems involving Windows Server (2016/2019/2022), Virtualisation (VMWare or Hyper-V) and Network infrastructure
- Define system architectures, hardware specs, and network topologies for project delivery
- Lead on documentation including FDS, SDS and test specs
- Conduct FATs (internal and customer), reviews, and QA processes
- Act as a subject matter expert during pre-sales, project delivery, and stakeholder engagement
- Work closely with internal cyber teams to ensure systems are secure by design
Key Requirements of the Lead Engineer:
- 5+ years' experience with Windows Server, VMware/Hyper-V, and Switch/Firewall config—preferably in OT or industrial environments
- Strong background in cyber-secure systems delivery (IEC 62443 or similar standards)
- Confident producing technical documentation and leading test phases
- Familiarity with network design (RSTP, PRP, HSR) and communication protocols (IEC 61850, DNP3, Modbus, etc.)
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel when needed
Bonus Experience:
- SCADA platform knowledge (COPA-DATA Zenon, Siemens WinCC, PCS7, etc.)
- PLC programming (IEC 61131 languages, Rockwell, Siemens, Schneider, etc.)
- Understanding of Safety Integrity Levels (IEC 61508/61511) and legacy control systems
- Experience with simulation tools (SIMIT, WinMOD) or software-defined networks
