VIQU are supporting a growing UK-based software provider who are seeking a Senior Automation QA Engineer (hands-on) to strengthen their product engineering capability. This role is focused on increasing automation capability and delivery velocity within a scaling development environment. The successful Senior Automation QA Engineer will be embedded alongside developers, contributing directly within the C# codebase and enhancing existing automation frameworks.
The Role:
- Build, enhance and maintain automation frameworks using C# and Selenium
- Develop robust automated UI and API tests across complex enterprise applications
- Work closely with developers to embed quality within the SDLC
- Leverage AI-assisted tools such as Copilot to improve automation efficiency and output
- Create and execute SQL queries for backend validation and data-driven testing
- Integrate automation into CI/CD pipelines
- Support integration testing and customer-facing UAT where required
- Balance delivery pace with risk in a fast-moving product environment
Key Skills & Experience:
- Strong experience as a Senior Automation QA Engineer / SDET / Developer in test / Automation Test Engineer
- Excellent hands-on coding ability in C# / .NET
- Advanced Selenium WebDriver experience
- Proven experience building or significantly enhancing automation frameworks
- Strong SQL skills for data validation and backend testing
- Experience integrating automated tests within CI/CD environments
- Comfortable operating directly within development teams
- Exposure to AI-assisted coding tools such as Copilot or similar
- ISTQB / Microsoft certified (Nice to have)
Role details:
- Job type: Contract
- Duration: 6-month initial contract
- Rate: £400 - £450 per day
- IR35 status: Outside IR35
- Location: Midlands (2 days onsite initially, reducing to 1 day after first month)
