VIQU have partnered with a long–established, UK–based engineering manufacturer designing and building specialist heavy vehicles used in essential frontline services. This is a business with real heritage, strong family values, and a reputation for engineering robust, practical products that are built to last. You will be joining a close–knit engineering function where ideas are listened to, designs go into production, and your work has a visible impact.

This role sits within the Chassis team and focuses on the full mechanical design lifecycle – from concept through to production support and field fixes. It is a hands–on engineering environment, well suited to someone who enjoys structural and fabrication–led design rather than highly automated automotive work.

What you will be doing:

  • Designing and developing chassis systems and components from concept to release
  • Producing detailed 3D models and manufacturing drawings (BS8888)
  • Working closely with manufacturing, suppliers, and internal stakeholders
  • Supporting validation, DVP&R activities, and product launches
  • Investigating build and field issues, identifying root cause, and delivering practical fixes

Core skills & experience:

  • 3+ years' experience in mechanical or chassis design
  • Strong CAD capability (Solid Edge preferred)
  • Experience with fabricated structures, sheet metal, brackets, weldments, and fasteners
  • Understanding of stress, fatigue, DFMA, and BOM creation
  • Background in yellow goods, industrial vehicles, trailers, or similar environments is highly relevant

Why apply?

  • Broad, end–to–end engineering exposure – not siloed component work
  • Real influence on products that are manufactured in volume
  • Supportive team with a mix of experience levels and clear progression
  • Hybrid working after an initial onboarding period
