Cloud Operations Manager (AWS)

VIQU has partnered with a leading supply chain company seeking a Cloud Operations Manager (AWS) to lead and mentor their growing team. The ideal candidate will have a technical background in roles like Site Reliability Engineer, DevOps Engineer, or Cloud Engineer before transitioning into leadership. This role focuses on ensuring cloud system reliability and enhancing infrastructure.

This position is primarily remote, with travel to Leeds once per month.

Key Responsibilities of the Cloud Operations Manager:

  • Lead and mentor a team of SREs, ensuring cloud platform stability.
  • Provide technical leadership in AWS, including CI/CD, container orchestration, IaC, and scripting.
  • Design, implement, and maintain scalable, secure, and reliable cloud systems.
  • Oversee shared services for development, testing, and production (GitLab, Concourse, Jenkins).
  • Contribute to the Cloud Centre of Excellence (CoE), driving best practices.
  • Collaborate with development, operations, and product teams to streamline deployments.
  • Maintain compliance with AWS Well-Architected Framework principles.

Key Requirements of the Cloud Operations Manager:

  • At least one year of experience managing technical teams, with five-plus years in a hands-on role.
  • Strong AWS expertise, with relevant certifications (e.g., AWS Solutions Architect SA1, DevOps Engineer DOP-C02).
  • Experience with CI/CD tools, particularly Jenkins and Concourse CI.
  • Familiarity with container orchestration (ECS or Kubernetes).
  • Proficiency in infrastructure as code and configuration management (Ansible, CloudFormation).
  • Scripting skills (PowerShell, Bash, etc.).
  • Experience with Python or TypeScript and knowledge of Java.
  • Prior experience in a Cloud Centre of Excellence (CoE) is desirable.
