My Customer is seeking a highly skilled Azure Cloud Engineer to design, build and support modern Azure hybrid infrastructure platforms. This role will focus on delivering and operating Azure Local / Azure Stack HCI (Hyper converged infrastructure) environments, tightly integrated with Azure services, using automation-first and infrastructure-as-code principles.
The Azure Cloud Engineer will play a key role in creating resilient, repeatable hybrid platforms that integrate seamlessly with enterprise networks, identity systems and governance models.
Required Skills & Experience of the Azure Cloud Engineer:
- Active/recently lapsed SC Clearance
- Azure Local / Azure Stack HCI (Hyper converged infrastructure) cluster creation and operation
- Strong technical knowledge of Hyper-V, S2D, and Azure SDN
- Registering and managing hybrid infrastructure via Azure Arc
- Advanced PowerShell scripting and automation experience
- Identity and access management, including RBAC, enterprise IAM and identity design patterns
- Infrastructure as Code, ideally Terraform
- Integrating local HCI platforms into complex enterprise network environments
- Strong focus on standardisation, documentation and automation-led delivery
Key Responsibilities of the Azure Cloud Engineer:
- Build and operate Azure Local / Azure Stack HCI clusters, including compute, storage and networking
- Implement and manage Hyper-V, Storage Spaces Direct (S2D) and Software Defined Networking (SDN)
- Register and manage hybrid environments through Azure Arc, enabling a unified Azure control plane
- Develop and maintain PowerShell automation to standardise deployments, operations and lifecycle management
- Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform, ensuring environments are reproducible and consistent
- Integrate on-prem / HCI platforms with enterprise network architectures, including security and connectivity standards
- Apply and maintain strong RBAC models, identity patterns and access controls aligned to enterprise IAM strategies
The Azure Cloud Engineer is required onsite, 2 days per week or 40% of your time each Month in Central London.
