An exciting opportunity for an experienced Civil Engineer to support the delivery of utility-scale solar and energy storage projects. This is a technically focused, collaborative role working across development, design, procurement, and construction teams to ensure civil works are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with UK and international standards.
You will take ownership of civil design coordination, support project delivery from concept to construction, and act as the technical interface between internal stakeholders and external engineering partners.
- Assess and define civil works scope including foundations, piling programmes, drainage, internal roads, and cut & fill analysis.
- Review surveys and technical studies (geotechnical, hydrological, FRA, topographical) to inform design decisions.
- Manage and review external engineering designs and reports, ensuring alignment with agreed specifications.
- Provide technical support during construction, resolving engineering challenges and liaising with subcontractors.
- Act as the main technical interface between internal departments, clients, and outsourced civil engineering partners.
Qualifications:
- BSc/BEng or MSc in Civil or Structural Engineering preferred.
- Experience within renewables, energy storage, DNO/ICP, consultancy, or related engineering environments.
- Strong understanding of UK and international engineering standards and CDM regulations.
- Proficient in AutoCAD (Tekla Tedds/Structural Designer advantageous).
- Knowledge of drainage design, SuDS, and foundation design for mounting systems, substations, transformers, and BESS.
- Experience in Solar PV and utility-scale project development.
- Familiarity with pile load testing and detailed foundation design.
- Exposure to multi-jurisdiction projects and working across time zones.
