The opportunity
As the UK transitions to Net Zero, electricity network connections must become faster, fairer and fit for the future. We are seeking a Technical Lead to guide industry-wide reform of grid connection processes across transmission and distribution networks. This role will act as the technical authority for connection reform, including TMO4+, queue management and access reform, working with network companies, regulators and government.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the technical design and delivery of TMO4+ and connections reform.
- Align transmission and distribution connection reform programmes.
- Translate policy and regulation into technical designs, process models and code changes.
- Provide technical input to industry forums, governance groups and regulatory consultations.
- Oversee system, data and architecture changes supporting new connection processes.
- Engage with regulators, system operators, network companies, developers and customers.
- Lead multi-disciplinary industry delivery teams and manage technical risks.
About you
Essential
- Strong knowledge of UK electricity connections and network planning.
- Expertise in TMO4+, queue management and access reform.
- Knowledge of CUSC, DCUSA and industry codes.
- Experience delivering complex technical programmes in energy, utilities or infrastructure.
- Strong stakeholder and governance experience.
Desirable
- Chartered Engineer or equivalent.
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems or related field.
- Experience with system operators, regulators or network operators.
- Familiarity with Agile or PRINCE2.
