A leading organisation within the UK utilities and infrastructure sector is seeking a Health & Safety Advisor to support the delivery of electricity infrastructure and engineering projects. This role will focus on ensuring compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards across operational and project activities, while supporting the continuous improvement of management systems and safe working practices.

Working closely with project managers, operational teams, subcontractors, and external stakeholders, you will help ensure the organisation remains compliant with industry regulations, accreditations, and best practice standards while promoting a positive health and safety culture throughout the business.

You will play a key role in supporting audits, inspections, incident investigations, training activities, and management system development, helping to drive continual improvement across health, safety, environmental, and quality performance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, environmental, and quality policies, procedures, legislation, and industry guidance.
  • Support the maintenance and continuous improvement of company management systems.
  • Deliver health and safety training, toolbox talks, and awareness briefings.
  • Liaise with clients, subcontractors, and external stakeholders on HSQE-related matters and best practice.
  • Support project teams with CDM requirements and the preparation of Construction Phase Plans.
  • Investigate incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions.
  • Analyse accident and incident data, identifying trends and opportunities for improvement.
  • Conduct site inspections and audits to monitor compliance and performance.
  • Support internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with ISO and industry accreditation requirements.
  • Review documentation and records to ensure processes, procedures, and quality standards are maintained.
  • Conduct subcontractor audits and support supplier approval processes.
  • Assist with pre-qualification questionnaires and customer compliance submissions.
About You

You are an experienced Health & Safety professional with a background working within utilities, construction, engineering, or infrastructure environments and are confident supporting operational teams across a range of project activities. You enjoy working collaboratively with project and delivery teams, helping to promote safe working practices while ensuring compliance with company procedures and industry standards.

You are organised, proactive, and comfortable managing multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of attention to detail and professionalism.

Essential Experience & Qualifications
  • NEBOSH Certificate, IOSH qualification, or equivalent health and safety qualification.
  • Previous experience within construction, utilities, engineering, or infrastructure environments.
  • Strong understanding of health, safety, environmental, and quality management systems.
  • Experience conducting internal audits, external audits, and site inspections.
  • Knowledge of CDM Regulations and construction health and safety requirements.
  • Experience investigating incidents and producing detailed reports.
  • Understanding of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 standards.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously.
  • Full UK driving licence.
Desirable:
  • Experience working within electricity distribution, utilities, or infrastructure sectors.
  • Familiarity with NERS requirements and industry accreditation processes.
  • Experience managing subcontractor audits and compliance reviews.
  • Knowledge of quality assurance and continuous improvement processes.
  • Background within utilities, energy, construction, or engineering sectors.
