A leading organisation within the UK utilities and infrastructure sector is seeking an experienced Construction Manager – Overhead Lines to lead the safe and successful delivery of overhead line projects across the Cambridgeshire area.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced construction professional who enjoys leading operational teams, managing client relationships and being actively involved on site. You will play a key role in overseeing overhead line construction activities, working closely with Supervisors, site teams and key stakeholders to deliver essential electricity infrastructure safely, efficiently and to a high standard.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the delivery of overhead line construction projects across the electricity distribution network.
  • Manage site teams, subcontractors and operational resources.
  • Promote a strong health and safety culture through regular site visits, inspections and audits.
  • Plan construction activities and ensure projects are delivered safely and on programme.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, stakeholders and operational teams.
  • Monitor project quality, productivity and commercial performance.
  • Support project planning, reporting and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Coordinate resources and ensure construction activities are properly planned and managed.
  • Provide leadership, coaching and development to operational teams.
  • Identify and resolve issues affecting programme, quality, safety or project delivery.

About You

You are an experienced Construction Manager with significant experience delivering overhead line construction projects within a Distribution Network Operator (DNO) environment. You will be confident leading operational construction teams and managing multiple workstreams within a fast-paced, safety-critical environment.

You will have a strong technical understanding of LV, HV and overhead line construction, alongside a good knowledge of health, safety and environmental legislation. You will be organised, proactive and commercially aware, with strong planning and communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships with clients, stakeholders and site teams.

You will be comfortable managing programmes, coordinating resources and resolving challenges to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to the required standards.

Essential Experience & Qualifications

  • Significant experience delivering overhead line construction projects.
  • Previous experience working within a DNO or electricity distribution environment.
  • Strong understanding of LV, HV and overhead line construction practices.
  • Strong knowledge of health, safety and environmental requirements.
  • Proven experience leading construction teams, Supervisors and subcontractors.
  • Strong planning, programme management and organisational skills.
  • Experience monitoring project performance, quality and costs.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong commercial awareness and problem-solving ability.
  • Full UK driving licence.

Desirable:

  • Previous experience working on UK Power Networks contracts.
  • Experience working directly with a DNO or major utilities client.
  • Relevant overhead line or electricity distribution qualifications.
  • Experience managing multiple overhead line projects simultaneously.
  • Experience coaching and developing operational teams.
