Location: Bedfordshire / Cambridge / Ipswich / Oxford (hybrid working - multiple locations considered)

Salary: £35,000 - £70,000 (roles at different levels of seniority available)

Are you an Ecologist looking to work on nationally significant infrastructure projects while developing your career in a supportive and growing environmental team? We're looking for Ecologists at all levels, from experienced Field Ecologists through to Senior, Principal and Lead Ecologists, to join a leading infrastructure business delivering highways and environmental projects across the UK.

This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a growing in-house ecology team, working alongside design, construction and operational teams to ensure ecological constraints are effectively managed while identifying opportunities to enhance biodiversity.

The Role

You’ll be involved in a varied mix of field and office-based work, supporting projects from planning through to delivery. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Undertaking habitat and protected species surveys
  • Completing UK Habitat Classification and Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) assessments
  • Producing high-quality ecological reports and impact assessments
  • Supporting Ecological Clerk of Works (ECoW) duties
  • Assisting with protected species licensing and mitigation strategies
  • Working closely with multidisciplinary project teams across a diverse portfolio of infrastructure projects

About You

We’re keen to hear from Ecologists with:

  • Experience undertaking ecological field surveys and technical reporting
  • Knowledge of UK Habitat Classification, BNG assessments and protected species surveys (Bat, Water Vole, Badger, Dormice)
  • A sound understanding of UK ecological legislation, policy and best practice
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • A full UK driving licence
  • Willingness to travel within the UK and occasionally stay away from home
